Ethereal Visions Illuminated Tarot– by Matt Hughes

The Ethereal Visions Illuminated Tarot has a gentle art nouveau art style and beautiful gold foil accents (I really wish this had carried across to a matching gilt edging, but it certainly is still a beautiful deck!) ✨

This deck includes the four expected suits follows:

  • Pentacles
  • Wands
  • Swords
  • Cups

However, there are 24 major arcana, rather than the usual 22, the two additional cards being ‘The Well’ and ‘The Artist’. Aside from having two additional cards, this reads very much like a traditional Rider Waite Smith deck, so for anyone already familiar with traditional decks, it would be an easy transition to start reading the Ethereal Visions deck, as many of the images will feel familiar.

The imagery is calming, and uses a very soft colour palette – the word ‘ethereal’ sums it up perfectly. The gold foil adds just enough to ensure the cards don’t look flat and washed out, and the end result is a beautifully balanced deck which oozes serenity.

The deck is very nicely presented too, it comes in a high-quality, sturdy box, again with gold foil accents and a simple guide book. The cards are a nice-quality card-stock with a satin finish that makes them great to shuffle.

If you like to read with a traditional deck, but find their imagery to be a little heavy or cluttered, this deck could be perfect for you.

I couldn’t find a direct link to purchase this directly from the artist (which is my preference) but a quick google search will pull up stockists on Amazon, Waterstones, Etsy, etc.
