The Moon Power Tarot is one of the most colourful and vibrant decks I own – and I chose this for the artwork alone without really knowing how I would find it to work with.
This is a standard 78 card tarot deck – with the four suits you’d expect:
The Moon Power Tarot is not a pip deck, so this means that all 78 cards are beautifully illustrated. I can’t express to you what a delicious-looking deck this is – it also has a wonderful, almost sparkly gilt edging, and I’m such a sucker for a nice edge!
The first thing I noticed when I started to work with this deck is that the suits are often hidden in the images and it’s a little bit like ‘Where’s Wally?’ looking for which suit you are reading, and the images on most of (but not all) the cards, are nothing like the traditional ‘Rider Waite’ deck so the Moon Power Tarot could be tricky for a beginner to work with. You do receive a ‘booklet’ with it, with a very brief description of the meaning of each card; and by brief, I mean just five or six words – so I can’t help but think this is a deck best suited to an intuitive reader who will ‘find’ the meaning in each illustration – and that suits me perfectly!
There a couple of nods to The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy in this deck, so fans of the show could get a kick out of that, I also spotted K-9 from Doctor Who – and I’m sure there are other ‘pop culture’ references lurking in this deck, but I haven’t explored it for long enough to discover them.
I’m looking forward to spending more time studying this deck – it seems every time I pick it up, I notice something new; which is very exciting, and will make for very interesting readings!
This is a high quality, well-presented deck. The striking imagery is printed on high quality card stock, and the back of the cards is just as beautiful as the front!
